Hello, I am new to this extension and have scoured the forums for this answer to no avail.

I have a working gallery, but I am trying to enable user upload and I cannot get that to work.

I have tried following the documentation here: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... ser-upload

I create a User Control Panel, the folder I create shows up in the backend category section of the Phoca Gallery Compnent, but no images actually get uploaded into the category. and thus they do not appear in the Phoca Gallery Category List menu item.

Also, is it possible to add descriptions to individual photos using the flash uploader? (not that ive been able to get that to work either)

when setting up the category, did you select the user folder it must be uploaded into?

If right now a file is uploaded where does it come?

I tried setting up a folder for the pictures to go to,(but that needs to be done from the backend as I understand it?) but after the upload they don't appear in the "images" pane. In fact they don't appear anywhere. And I don't receive error messages, perhaps this is because im using a legacy template. I cannot really change it because the site is live, perhaps I can restrict access to the gallery just temporarily in order to troubleshoot this, if indeed the legacy template is killing any error messages that could prove useful.

I have no problem uploading pictures from the backend, that seems to work just fine. I have a working gallery up and running. So i think this rules out the Joomla bug.

everything about this component I managed to figure out besides this front end upload. Ideally a front end user would be able to do everything with the pictures from start to finish, and not need any help from a backend user.

For the messages: check if this line is available in your template : <jdoc:include type="message"> just above <jdoc:include type="component">.

Are the permissions of the folder ok? Could you check if the images are uploaded and the thumbs aren't created, or are the images not uploaded?

ok it looks like the images and folders are being created in the ftp but no thumbnails are being created. So it looks like the problem lies somewhere in the thumbnail creation process. And that line: jdoc:include type="message" is not in my template, can I safely add it? would it even help?

it would display the system messages... which is handy when you're having errors (and yes you can safely add it)

adding <jdoc:include type="message"> did nothing

the thumbnail creation help document is not helpful. "I can enable GD library"-how do I do this? - "fix permissions on files / folders" Which files? What should the permissions be set to? -

if you would please help me troubleshoot this it would be greatly appreciated,

username: test
pass: help

then a menu appears on the left that has the item "add photos"
the menu item "photo gallery" is a category list item so the added photos *should* show up here no?

I tried updating to the latest (2.5.0) but I'm still having all the same problems. When I upload through the front end, no thumbs are created, it either takes me to the home page of the site or just clears the upload form.

Any help in this is greatly appreciated. I will drop everything to get this working, I just need someone to help me through it. Thank you very much.

it appears to me that the system messages are still not displaying. Test the upload function with rhuk_milkyway and for certain you should see system messages if something isn't correct. (system messages also display 'thank you for your message' if you use a contact form or 'you need to login' if someone needs to login to see a page).

To check if it's a permissions problem you could set the images/phocagallery/your folder/ to 777, including the subfolders. This is a very insecure setting, so after you determined that it isn't the cause of the problem, please set this back to 755.

I enabled the milkyway template and when I tried to upload a picture I got this terribly unhelpful error messgae:


* Unable to upload file



changing the permissions didnt help either, and it wont seem to let me change the permissions of the thumbs.
