Hi,
go to the Phoca Gallery parameters (extensions > phoca gallery > control panel > [parameters] button) and set 'Display image besides category name' to 'show (categories detail view)'
See:

hi,
at first thanks for your answers. I found the setting in parameter. But I can only use it when I choose in the main menue "all categories" --> "Phoca Gallery Category List Layout".
I need this detail view only in particular categories and that is my problem.

hey Jan,
I am curious. Will that be possible in future releases? Or is it not possible at all to do so?
This could also be a solution to uploaded user categories in frontend to be reviewed by admins prior to set it visible on the site. Just by creating only Menu Items that link to single Categories in which subcategories display nicely in Categories Detail View, you can have a nicely looking Gallery and hold the Category List Layout from users so newly created Categories by users won't be visible until a admin has approved it and moved it to the appropriate category to be 'enabled' for the site.
This way users won't mess up the category layout by creating a category in the wrong place (it will be at first, but not visible on the site) and you have a admin approval build in.
Just by adding Categories Detail View in Category View and not using Category List Layout as a Menu Item
But this probably ain't news for you
