Understanding folders

Hi, i'm new to phoca gallery and i'm in the process of migrating over 10.000 images fom the old datso gallery.
almost done, but i have a question

i have a structure of folder like this
images/phocagallery/galleries/2006
images/phocagallery/galleries/2007
images/phocagallery/galleries/2008
...
images/phocagallery/galleries/2016

then i have several categories associated to this folders
ex. catname 2006 folder images/phocagallery/galleries/2006
ex. catname 2007 folder images/phocagallery/galleries/2007
...

but when (in front end) i create a new sub category in one of this main categories (for ex. 2006/museum or 2016/lake)
the uploaded images go to the folder galleries folder (the folder associated to my main category)

now the question is, when i create a category, i choose the right folder images/phocagallery/images/2006, why the images don't go to this folder instead of main folder?
there is a setting somewhere or i have to hack the code?

something like
if userfolder exist put the images here otherwise, put the images i my main folder...

Thanks for watching!
Francesco

Hi, see similar posts in this forum, Phoca Gallery had independent database and filesystem layer. Frontend upload is ready for user's upload and every user has own folder where the uploaded images are stored. There is only one folder for all the images as images can be moved between categories (when they are moved, the original image on the server stays on the same place - path to images can change)

If you import images to gallery, the best way is to use multiple add function:
