first of all, check if rights of your categories do not conflict to each other, see following images
there is "access" set for public but "access rights" is not set as public. In:
version 4.2 - the album/category was displayed
version 4.3 - there is now "strict rule/mode" applied (because users asked for it) and if "access rights" will be set, the "access" will be ignored and rights will be managed by "access rights")
To complete the information:
- Access - there you can set access rights for groups
- Access rights - there you can extend the rights for specific users
If the rights are in conflict to each other, to solve it, you can:
- manually remove the access rights values (in each category - in administration)
- or do it for all categories at once with help of SQL query (run in phpMyAdmin):

update jos_phocagallery_categories SET accessuserid = '' WHERE access = 1
(change the prefix "jos_" to your own database prefix)
This sql changes access rights for all categories where the access is set to public. So by all public categories, the access rights parameter will be empty and they will be public in version 4.3

(man soll das Präfix "jos_" um eigenes Datenbank-Präfix ändern)
Diese SQL ändert die Access Rights für alle Kategorien, in denen der Zugang als öffentlich gesetzt ist. Bei allen öffentlichen Kategorien wird die Access Rights Parameter leer sein, und die Kategorien werden in der Version 4.3 öffentlich.
