Greetings all :|!

Happy to be here...I've installed phoca and I thought I followed the instructions properly but I'm getting no photos displaying in my galleries and I also can't get thumb nails to generate. I've read the instructions and most of the items vaguely referencing this in the forums. I'm using joomla 1.5.10 can anyone help me.

My site is www.pichedo.com

Thanks in advance,...

Regards,

Hi,

Could you please explain more specific what steps you took and what's not working as it should be.

Here is all documentation on the Phoca Gallery component: https://www.phoca.cz/documentation/categ ... -component
I recommend you to read the 'quick start guide' and the first half of the list.

Regards, Carolien

High!

the pic's you loaded up: what's their filesize? Your site's reacting slowly, so I could imagine, that the pics are "too big"!?

The average size is between 4-5 meg
Is that too large?

Thanks Carolien, I both saw and read the documentation before starting this project.
I didn't see anything about file size limitations in there.
Are there any? Reason I ask is because the plugin looks sophisticated enough to make the images conform to a consistent sizing, am I wrong in my assumptions?

All help is greatly appreciated.
:)

High!

yes, that's too big! You should have had problems while uploading the pictures! At least such big pictures do not make big sense in most cases. When visitors want to look at your galerie they have to wait very long, cause this 5meg pic will be sent to the visitors browser. This makes accassing your galery a boaring thing! The files should have - for fast downloads - about 100k-300k, that should be fine. There are possibilities to resize them by phoca - see java uploader - ant to influence the max. upload size, please see the doc. Remember that most visitors will f.e use a display resolution of 1024x768 or a little more. Mostly a picture sice - in the galeries parameters - of 640x480 is quite enough. Try it!

Try to resize f.e. 1 pic to 1024X768. This will make the pic much smaller! Make an upload to an empty category and retry. I'm quite shure you'll see your pic

have fun
