About installation error

After installatio i got I this errors:

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /web/htdocs/www.ssstbiketeam.it/home/jojo/libraries ... /mysql.php on line 344

I read something about this problems and the way i read is to edit manually the database. I'm new of Joomla and don't Know how to do.
Could somebody help me explainig in datail how to do?
