category column view not displaying correctly

hi - we have this strange problem that our gallery categories are not displaying correctly. two columns are being displayed but the right column is much longer than the left one. (see attached image).

i also found out that regardless of what i set in the category settings under "number of colums", always 2 colums are being displayed - even if i set the value to 1.

the same thing seems to happen when i chose not to display any images but only the category names. then the names also are being displayed in the right column (see attached image)

many thanks for anyone that can help with this

Hi, it seems like on the last image, there are set 3 columns, but all 3 columns cannot be displayed on the site, so the last colomn is displayed under the two first columns...

Try to set some standard template (only for test that we know it is not template issue)
Did you change teh number of columns in Parameters Component in menu link to gallery?

the columns solution should work,see:

hello jan

i tried it with another template and then it did display 3 colmuns just fine. I then set it from 3 to 2 columns, which should also display fine with our current template. But it still looks the same - there are still 7 images in a single column below the two columns. (see attachment)

thank you for your help

p.s: i've also written another post with regard to the image that is displayed per category. we're having the problem that we can't seem to define which picture will be displayed for a certain category.

Hi, this still seems like there are 3 columns but only 2 can be displayed because of the width so the 3 is below first two columns

hello jan - is there maybe a way to have the category name displayed underneath or on top of the image ? That way the gallery does not use up so much space.

theoretically when i chose 2 columns in the settings it should just distribute the gallery images evenly in two columns, right ?

thanks for your help

[SOLVED] Re: category column view not displaying correctly

SOLVED - i found out what the problem was. Jan mentioned it in his earlier statement: @jan: "Did you see the Parameters Component preferences?" but if someone is not a joomla expert it can get quite confusing with all the different settings in modules/components etc. etc. and so i always looked in the wrong place.

@guig: you have to go to the "menu" section in your joomla administrator. click on the menu where your phoca gallery menu is in. Click on your gallery menu entry and then on the next page that opens, there should be an expandable window called "component paramenter" on the right side of your screen. Open that and somewhere in the middle you can change "number of columns" from 3 to 2. That fixed my problem.

I always changed the "column" value in the phoca gallery administration module (in the settings tab) - which had no effect.

cheers
marc
