Is it possible to upload my own batch of thumbnails? If not, can anyone recommend a Joomla photo gallery where I can control my thumbnails?

Hi, no problem, it depends on you... Just let Phoca Gallery create thumbnails of your image and then overwrite these thumbnails with your owns...
