best way to display categories on frontpage

I need to display in my homepage the phoca gallery categories I have (9 categories). Each category should have a specific photo and link to each category.

I currently do this by using the phoca gallery compoonent as homepage of my website. I mean the menu item set as "default" is the gallery.
But this is causing me some other problems (like page title customization, modules control, articles, etc..)

I would like to know if someone here can make the samething by other means.

Hi, sorry I don't understand, the Phoca Gallery can be displayed as frontpage, see:

what exactly should cause problems?

I didnt want to focus on "problems". And this "problems" are mostly related with module positioning (I cannot publish a module on a particular category for example).

Back to my post, and focusing on what I was asking for (suggestions)
I am now currently using the gallery with articles.
I have created one article for each category, and using the gallery plugin I displayed the photos inside the articles.

This seems to be working more as I needed, compared to making the component as homepage.

Giving more details for who might be needing ideas, I have placed one photo in the intro text of articles, and the plugin code on the readmore of the article. Then in the respective menu item I set the "show intro text" to off. I also used a nice plugin for image resizing. I have now one photo per category, I click it and the article is displayed without the photo, with the the text I want and al category photos.

I am now just having a problem with the plugin, number of characters, I will open a new post. (EDIT: namenumchar is the answer)
