Set Parent Category's thumbnail as a subcategory's image?

Hello everyone.
My question may sound very complicated so I will try my best to explain it well as I can:
This is my structure:
Categories:
Tournaments(Thumbnail:Standard Folder icon)
>>>>>Tournament1(Thumbnail:Standard Folder icon)
>>>>>>>>>>Year(Thumbnail: Underlying images)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>{Images}
>>>>>Tournament2(Thumbnail:Standard Folder icon)
>>>>>>>>>>Year(Thumbnail: Underlying images)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>{Images}
Games(Thumbnail: Standard Folder icon)
>>>>>[Underlying Subcategories, etc.]
I understand that if a category has an image inside it, it will select that as it's thumbnail. But what I want is that a parent category selects a subcategory's image so it won't be an ugly folder icon!
My solution right now is to just insert an image in a category with only subcategories in it(like the Tournament1 subcategory), so it will select that image. But in my eyes that's an ugly solution because the user could see that image and that's not what I want. I want their gallery experience to be smooth.
(I also don't want to fiddle with hiding images so they won't see that one image in the Tournament1 category, because that's too much work for the upcoming system owner.
So here's my question:
How do I make Phoca Gallery give a parent subcategory a thumbnail that is an image from one (or more) underlying subcategory/subcategories? (Example: Give "Tournaments" an image from Tournament1->Year->{IMAGE})?
Is this possible? I've already set "Display Image instead of Folder Icon" to "Yes".
Thank you very much for your time!
