Images upload stopped wroking (used to work before)

Hi,
I've got Phoca 2.1.0. I installed it succesfully a month ago. Everything was just fine and worked correctly.
Until now... Images upload stopped working. I do it in following way:
1) Transfer images via FTP to server; check rights and set it to 755 (now I event set the rights to 777 just to make sure)
2) Use Images Multiple Add feature
3) And... get the message: 0 Categories added, 9 Images added
Which seems to be good. But during upload I don't see message about creating thumbnails with a progress bar.
Images are added to category but I can't see them.
Moreover, if I want to add a single image from a directory on server, I get a popup window with directory struture where I can see only images (thumbnails), which I added before. New images are just blanks. Even when I add a copy of image which is already in Phoca (so with this I am sure that the format of image doesn't play a role).
Could you, please, advise what could happen? Could this be my host issue?
Thanks in advance for any hints.
