slideshow - description - this is an external javascript library which doesn't display description within the slideshow
hiding of flash - I think, maybe the modal box method hides flash on the site because of some possible conflicts... ??? maybe this should be a question on Joomla.org forum (as modal box is a part of Joomla! framework) or direct on modal box developers ...
