non sef urls for images in Phoca Gallery Joomla 2.5 site

I downloaded Phoca Gallery component and found it very easy to set up on my joomla 2.5 website.I created a new xml sitemap and discovered all the images I had on my gallery had non sef urls. I have sef urls enabled on my website and .htaccess file. Have I missed something in the configuration of Phoca Gallery? My configuration knowledge is quite limited but I think it might be a menu issue.
