Hi, Phoca Gallery uses float boxes to display image float boxes, so in fact they should meet the rwd criteria - if there is a small screen, one image per row will be displayed, if there is larger, then two, etc. I think, resizing images in this case does not make sense, as the small and medium thumbnails are mostly smaller than small mobile phone screens.

Hi,

I just upgraded to Phoca Gallery 4.1.2 and I use Joomla! 3.4.0.

You mention in this thread that Responsive Web Design is handled by the Phoca "float boxes". But I do not use float boxes or popups for the Details views of my images/photos with Phoca Gallery. My Details View setting has "no popups" which is what I need to use for my sites.

How can I have my images/photos use Responsive Web Design and adjust to different screen sizes if I do not use float boxes or popups with Phoca Gallery?

Thanks!

Hi, if you want that the images will be resized too, try to use Phoca Photo, see demo:

Hi Jan,

I read the Phoca Photo page and saw the demo. It says that Phoca Photo is a lightweight version of Phoca Gallery. I have a Joomla 3.4.0 site. I have a few questions:

1) Do you normally see a big speed difference in how fast the photo pages display using Phoca Photo instead of Phoca Gallery to display the photos on the site frontend?

2) Do I have to uninstall Phoca Gallery to use Phoca Photo? Or do I keep my installation and settings for Phoca Gallery and just install Phoca Photo also?

3) If I use Phoca Photo then can my frontend pages have the sort/ordering drop-down box for the photo category pages? For example, the default settings I have for the Category Views with Phoca Gallery is to have the default sort/ordering using the "Hits Ascending". The drop-down box lists a lot of other options for users to sort by. Since Phoca Photo is a lightweight version and it does not have statistics, can I have "Hits Ascending/Descending" options on the frontend?

Thanks.

Hi,

1) yes, there is a difference as in Phoca Photo no user rights are checked (no category, no image, no users checked), a lot of different parameters are not checked (different icons, features, etc. etc.)

2) Don't uninstall Phoca Gallery - all images are managed in backend in Phoca Gallery - Phoca Photo is only a frontend part - additional frontend view

3) Yes, it can be listed by e.g. statistics in Phoca Photo but in fact you take the outputs from Phoca Gallery as in Phoca Photo, there are no so much features like in Phoca Gallery, so some of the features - e.g. rating is not there, so ordering by rating doe not have any sense, etc.

Hi Jan,

I tested out Phoca Photo and I think I need to use the extra features of Phoca Gallery instead for my site.

But there is one feature in Phoca Photo that would be great for Phoca Gallery.
In Phoca Photo > Config > Image Views > Enable Image Navigation Enable or disable image navigation (previous and next arrows) in Image View. This parameter is valid for no popup method only.

I would really like to have the Enable Image Navigation feature in my Phoca Galleries. I don't use popups and instead I have all my photos displayed in Details Views.
I updated to Phoca Gallery 4.1.2 but I don't see any Enable Image Navigation feature. Is there a setting for that?
Or is that a feature you can add in a future Phoca Gallery upgrade?

Thanks.

Hi, enable the navigation buttons in Phoca Gallery as they can be displayed in Phoca Gallery too (include slideshow buttons)
