Full/natural size of images

Hi all,
first of all, I must say that I love the Phoca Gallery a lot - it's utterly great and convenient and simple to use, so it was just the best choice for our site
http://www.ca3d-engine.de. Thank you very much for developing it!
However, I have a question / suggestion similar to the one I found in
this thread:
Although the fancy ways to show the "large thumbnails" are all extremely great and modern, is there alternatively a way to show the image in its full, plain, natural size?
For example, a click on one of the thumbnails at
http://www.ca3d-engine.de/gallery/6-guisys should not open a popup box of some kind (as much as I love them!),
but just a new content page that shows the original, unscaled image (no matter if the browser would be forced to add scrollbars to the window).
Ideally, there would be navigation buttons above and below the image ("Back", "Prev" and "Next" would be enough), similar to the popup windows.
Is there any way to achieve this or a similar result? We'd be very grateful for any hints!
Best regards,
Carsten

In the configuration page of phoca gallery on the "Detail View Settings" you should use Standar Popup Window and set the proper dimension of your final image on "Images and Windows Size Settings"
NOTE: the "Images and Windows Size Settings" only works for new images, your actual images on galleries will not be affected.

Hi fotoracing,
thank you very much for your reply!
However, your suggestion is essentially to set the size of the largest thumbnails e.g. to 1024*768, and to adapt the size of the Standard Popup Window accordingly. That will still result in the largest thumbnails being used, not the original images, which is problematic e.g. when
- Original image is 1024*768, but .png (lossless) rather than .jpg (lossy compression),
- some original images are larger than 1024*768,
- users screen resolution is only 1024*768, where a popup windows of the same size will look pretty confusing.
In a sense, the problem would be solved (for me

) if there was an option to have the contents of the standard popup window in a normal Joomla content window, just like the normal gallery thumbnails, and instead of the largest thumbnail, always the original image would be used.
Any chance to implement that for a future verison?

Hi,
you could copy your original files to the thumbs folder and rename them as thumbs. This way PhocaGallery displays the "original files".
Also you could read
this topic about changing the quality of the thumbs.
I hope this helps,
Carolien

Maybe I don't understand it right, but:
If you click on the download-button, the original file opens for example in the modal popup with some more picture infos for download, but without navigation button.
Is that enough?

Hi Carolien,
thanks for your answer!

Even when the original files are
.png, .gif, etc?

Hi Ralf,
Arni wrote:If you click on the download-button, the original file opens for example in the modal popup with some more picture infos for download, but without navigation button.
Well,
technically, the Phoca Gallery has everything one needs (and more!), and I'm very grateful for all the flexibility it has that allows many work-arounds, and that people have kindly pointed them out to me in this thread.
However, what I'm looking for is something that is actually very straightforward and simple:
>> When the user clicks on a thumbnail, then display the original image. <<
For convenience, the display of the original image should have navigation buttons, i.e. be (almost) as comfortable as the popup windows.
I believe that whenever you have technical images, or screenshots of computer programs, etc., the "original image" approach is preferable over the large-thumbnail-in-popup-window approach, which is obviously more fancy and better suitable for photographs etc.

Hi, you can use the download icon with standard popup, so the original image will be displayed in popup window which can be resized (for customizing you need to change it in the code ...)

Well, yesterday at night, I was playing with the preferences of the phoca gallery. On the Large Image Width I set 1024 and 1024 for the Large Image Height too. Then I turned on the standar popup, with the display buttons and the slide show delay/pause turned off. After that I uploaded a sample pic (1024x768), went to my test gallery and clicked on the thumb.
It opened on a new popup page with the original image (1024*768), no buttons, and no slideshows, just the simple image. ¿Is that what the way you want to display your images ?
Regards!

I don't know... you could give it a try. Rename a couple of pictures and see if it works. Will you report it back here?
