my name is jan from germany. i love the phoca gallery. i am getting very sad because after re-installing three times there will be no picture shown in the front. when i click on one picture the following error message apperas:

Hi, see if the thumbnail exists in the folder and see the permissions of this file...

there is no thumbnail created. i can upload the files via phoca...

so there are some problems with permissions or ownership of files on your site.. GD creates thumbnails but this cannot be read because of permissions or ownership

I've used an earlier version of you gallery on another site and it is working just fine. It needs to be updated, but at present it is working just fine, so I'm not touching it.

I'm currently trying to use Phoca on our photography club's web site but I'm having the same problem. I upload the images via FTP to the various directories for the gallery. I then add the images from the directories, but no images are showing. I see a file called thumb.db in one of the sub-directory but not in the others.I try and delete the thumb and recreate, I get the blue bar that says its been done, but noting is coming up.

If it is a permission issue, what should the permissions be set to? Currently, the directory is set to 755 and the files all seem to be automatically set to 644. Should these be different, and is so what?

Found the problem!! In the parameter settings I needed o enable creating the thumbnails. Works like a champ.
