Duplicate categories

Usually when I upload a new album to phocagallery this is my workflow:
1) I create a new subfolder
2) I put the images in the subfolder
3) I go to images, upload images, multiple add
4) I select the root folder of my photo and click save and close
5) categories and thumbnails are created automatically

Everything is working great, except one thing: when I change the Title of the category. In example from the one created automatically photos-I-took-in-the-Moon I would change the Alias to "photos I took in the moon" to make it more user friendly. The probelm is that next time I will upload a new album and select the root folder, it will create also a new category called photos-I-took-in-the-Moon. The component doesn't recognize that there is already an album like that and I only changed the Title. Is there a fix to that?
Thank you, Davide

Hi, yes, the problem is, Multiple Add must work in both layers - database and filesystem (and detect category but the folder too) so for now I don't know any part which can recognize, the category was called other name and now it has other name but should be behave like with other name. In systematic view: what if new category will be called like the old - should the system know, the name is right but in fact it is not right as we want to use old name not the new, etc. :-(

Hello,
I have the same problem. I've copied my pictures into a folder assigned by the category definition in phoca gallery. Then I assigned the created folders within the new picture menu to the corresponding category and selected the folder. Within the folder the thumb folder is created including all thumbs as wanted. But in my gallery I've seen only one picture from my set and the defined picture for this category. If I click on this single picture the rest of my category pictures is shown, but this is not the behaviour I have expected. Then I used multiple add and assigned the folder to the formerly created category. The result was that a new category was created. This category is exactly what I want but now I have two categories. One with only one picture in it and with the formerly created category name and one new category created by the system with all pictures in it.

I guess I made something wrong. What is the correct process to get my categories with all pictures?

Hi, now you should delete the one category. Not sure what happened, but seems like you have selected both features together (select folder and category - so the folder was automatically transformed to category but because the category was selected, such folder/category was moved under this selected category - I only think, really not 100%)

So if you have some folder structure, you don't select any category in Multiple Add, you only select the tree and click on Save to transform the tree to categories and thumbnails
