I use PhocaGallery on a Windows Hosting, and Joomla 1.5 trought FTP layer work very well.
I need to use PhocaGallery without thumbnail creation, because I've some permission problem. And I Think is impossibile to resolve now my permission problem issue. My Hosting is a bit restrictive.
Can I use Phocagallery only to SHOW my photo uploaded for example with Media Manager?
I've tried in this way but the component need always the thumbnail to show me the image.
Thank's in advance,
Giorgio

Ok,
I cannot use the thumb because I have a strange problem.
In media manager I can upload, create, delete folders and images.
In Phoca Gallery (1.8 or 2.0b) I can upload image, but at finish of uplaod I receive the Error Message: Phoca Gallery cannot save files on your server, and can't create thumbnail...
If I check the Images\Phocagallery folder,I can find the correct image uplaoded trough Phoca Gallery and the folder "thumbs" created, but empty..
What I have to do?
I'm using Joomla in FTP Layer, and no problem trough media manager..

Hi,
you have to find a way to set your CHMOD of Images/phocagallery folder to 707. This can be done at your server with software like filezilla or smartftp.

Can I use this permission on the Folder Image with replication of subfolder?
I'm using a windows server hosting,I've to ask to my provider administratior for permission setting.

I am having the identical problem on a windows server. I can create categories, and images upload successfully, but the thumbnails will not create and I get the message " Phoca Gallery cannot save files on your server". I've checked the permissions many times and have tried them as 777, 707, 755, and others.
When I upload a new image it automatically has permissions of 666. However I chmod the image to 777 and try to recreate the thumbnail, and get the same error message.
I am suspecting a gdlibrary problem, however the server shows that gd is working properly. Should I ask my host to reinstall the gdlibrary?
Thanks for any help! My client is getting impatient.

Hi,
what about the rights of the thumbs folder in Phocagallery ('cause that's the folder which has to be writable)
And is the owner of the folders the same as the owner of all other folders?
Regards, Carolien

Hi Carolien, Thanks for the reply. I have checked the thumbs folder a few times, and it is also at 777 and has the same user and has the same owner as the other folders in the "images" folder. However, I wonder if I should check the owner of the files and folders of the phocagallery component - I'll check that tonight and let you know.

Unfortunately the permissions and user / group of the component do not seem to be at the root of hte issue.
Really stumped here - and I'm reluctant to switch to a different component, since I am making use of the fantastic "user" capability that PHocagallery has built in.
Thanks for any help,
Jamie
