Good start with the categories but you can't navigate back to the main category page once enter a category

Don't understand... If you go to e.g. category, you click on subcategory - you see pictures in subcategory and you can go back (green back arrow)... you cannot go back to categories view but you cannot do it without categories and subcategories too you must use a menu link or back button.

yes, so you have to make a menu to work with the gallery that lists the individual category list. Once you start navigating down the category - sub category there is no way to get back to the top or gallery home page to select a different category.

main category list
----- category 1
------ subcategory 1

You can't get back to the main category list from category 1. Thus you are stuck. At least that's the way it is on my install of phoca gallery.

There is a problem, because it is not so easy. There cannot be a e.g. arrow to main category list, because we don't know from where visitor comes... There is a variability. You can see subcategories and images from one category if you creates:

- Specific menu category link or
- All categories view menu link
- or (maybe in future) if user get link from search plugin

... so Phoca Gallery doesn't know if user (e.g. administrator) has created direct category menu link to the specific category or if user has created only all categories view menu link or both... you newer know where to go back... you can recognize from database which menu links has user created but you don't know from which menu link visitor comes while looking at photogallery

so we use menu link to go back

You may have to set something up in the configuration side where the user has to input the link to return to the main gallery page. I understand what you're saying. But a configuration setting would allow you to pass whatever the user wants to the button to return to the main photo gallery page.

Yes, you right, it can be a good solution, I can bind the back button with the ItemId

Heey,

I actually had the same question as diver165. It would be nice to have a backbutton to navigate through the subcategories (yes, that's worsk, but) and back to the main category. Do you have by any chance some sort of script for this problem?

Hi, it is in feature request list. It is not so easy because we don't know from where user comes to the category, so we don't know where to go back... but you can use breadcrumb now to navigate back...

But if it is possible to link the button from gallery to a map which stays as one class/category below? I think you understand what I mean.
