Anyway, there is a java upload feature too. Java (not javascript) is not more usually used, but the feature should work. What does it do? When uploading images with help of Java applet (available in Phoca Gallery), the images will be automatically resized before uploading to the server.
For now, I think, you need to make exception for java applet on your PC (see similar posts in forum) to run the applet. For now I don't know how secure is to use java on PC, this is then the question on java developers :idea:

Cool, Jan! I'd not never know about this possibility. Will keep it in mind for the future.
