Hi, the problem is, when you look at the code,

the second use $ which means mootools or jquery which can be more in conflict than standard clean javascript:

document.phocagallerysubcatform.submit();

Code used in Phoca Gallery is the standard - basic javascript code. Problem is, I am testing it in IE11 on Win 8 and Win 8.1, on different servers and get no such problem, everything is working for me Ok.

So this maybe can be bug described here:

- there can be more parts which can cause it (IE, server, etc. but not the standard javascript code )

Just wanted to say that I am also having the same issue as the original post.

Joomla 3.3
Phoca Gallery 4.1.1

Tested on win7 with:
Chrome 34
FF 29
IE 9
And clients Saffari.

Not only the Category dropdown, but also the "Select State" is the same.

One thing that comes to my mind is it could be something with the privileges since It is very advanced on this site (I think). It's a far shot that I have not looked into yet, will get back if I get any result.

I have the same error.

I am on the Phoca Gallery User Control Panel page.

When I select the Subcategories Tab or the Images Tab, two dropdowns appear to the right, the "-select Category" and the "-Select State."

If I choose a value in either one of these the screen refreshes, and they return to the unselected state. Because of this I cannot upload any images (that would require a category to be selected).

Looking at the F12 Console, it states that there is an unmatched end tag in Index.php, line 438:

433 <select id="filter_catid_subcat" name="filter_catid_subcat" class="inputbox" onchange="document.phocagallerysubcatform.submit();">
434 <option value="0" selected="selected">- Select Category</option>
435 <option value="2">Images</option>

I am using IE 11 and Joomla 3.2.3

Update.

I put IE 11 in Compatibility mode, and now I can select the Category and the State.

The Single File Upload still does not work.

The Multiple File Upload works great.

So for now, as a workaround, I'll disable the Single file Upload and go from there.

This is not a good long term solution, though. It messes up the rest of the site when in compatibility mode.

I tried the site using Google Chrome version 40.0.2214.94 m. It works great.
It seems like it is an incompatibility with IE 11.

Same for me works on other browsers but not IE11. I'm not prepared to encourage use of compatibility mode wrecking my site for a gallery and can not choose what browsers my audience use and therefore the gallery is little more than an ornament.

What gets me is other components have no problems with drop downs etc. so why just this gallery?

Hi, unfortunately I don't know the inside of IE so really cannot say why it does not accept standard javascript feature like other browsers do

So if there is some IE expert and can give some clue advice (for hack, etc.) I will take a look at it

Hi. Has anyone found a resolution to this yet?
Same problem here, on a website I am making for the family. Every single person who uses IE11 or 12 (both Windows 7 & 8/8.1) has the problem. Since front end picture upload is essential to the site, this means I cannot use Phoca Gallery.
jan, you probably want to spend some time on this. There are a LOT of IE users out there. My guess is that it may have something to do with the version of java installed on the computers, but it's just a guess....
