Hello,
Today I have improved some pictures with photoshop and load them up to the server and replaced the old pictures in the file images of Phoca gallary. The names of the pictures were not changed.
But Phoca gallery did not show these changed pictures but showed the old ones. Again I deleted the files on the server and loaded the new files up again. Again Phoca gallery showed the old pictures.
Only when I load pictures up and rename them (and add them to a new gallary), Phoca gallery shows the improven pictures.
When I want to delete the old category I get the next message:
Category(s): sights cannot be removed as they contain Articles. There may currently be Articles within the Article Trash Manager which you must delete first.
In the article trash there is no picture. How can I remove this category?
Thank you for your help

First, you must remo
First, you must remove old thumbnails if you upload new pictures with the same names as old pictures, because Phoca Gallery doesn't create thumbnails if allready exists (If so, it will be endless loop)
Second, I think there must be somwhere picture in the category (This is old message with articles because Phoca Gallery use com_catgegories from Joomla framework but in the next version Phoca Gallery will be used own categories behaviour...)
You can remove the category only if there are no images in the category (Extensions - Phoca Gallery - Gallery --> all images in selected gallery must be removed)

Jan,
Thank you for your reply. I will remove thumbnails tomorrow. It is difficult to find out which thumbnails are new and which old.
About the images in the category. I cannot find Phoca Gallery in my extensions? Do you mean components.
Greetings, Ad

The same - or worse - problem:Jan wrote:First, you must remove old thumbnails if you upload new pictures with the same names as old pictures, because Phoca Gallery doesn't create thumbnails if allready exists (If so, it will be endless loop)

Removing images in one category seems to be not possible: I choose a category, click Delete, BUT the system goes to the login page, I enter the password to root, go to to the catgories page and this one is still undeleted.
...Also I tried to remove the category over ftp, but on the category panel on joomla the "deleted" category is still shown (with empty thumbnails of the images)... Can somebody help please!

Hi, if you get login page after you do some action in your Joomla! you should check if your system is correctly installed. Which version of Phoca Gallery, and Joomla! you are using?

The system is correctly installed...
Joomla 2.5 / Phoca 3.2.6.

Re: problems with updating and deleting a category
Try to enable php error reporting and debug mode, without getting any error message (e.g. in joomla log, or in errorlog on server, it is hard to say where can be the problem
)
