No images!

Post by fierdor »

I am relativel new to Joomla! I installed Phoca Gallery on my site..Strangely I could not see any thumbnails or the images you see with the icons/buttons..Even the images i uploaded in the folder could not be viewed.
However the Gallery works perfectly on my Localhost(XAMPP) Do you reckon it is something to do with my hosting server?If yes,what kind of support may i be missing?Or it cud be some other problem?
Any kind of help will be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I checked the permissions of the images/phocagallery and it says 777..Even then I cant see any images on the frontend and not even on the admin end in Joomla!..
I tried 755 and still no progress...Is the error with the web hosting or am i missing something?

Hi, check the ownership of files and folders on your server and check if ftp layer is enabled (the best way is you can access the files and folders via ftp and files and folders has your ftp ownership)

Hey I was using joomla with FTP disabled in the global configuration..And i could install the various components and stuff..After you said I enabled the FTP layer and got this error:

* JFTP::write: Transfer Failed
* Unable to write entry

What does it mean?The permissions are wrong is it?

Yes, seems like the permissions are wrong :-(

Phoca Gallery is installed by Joomla! framework so it get the same permissions and ownership like other components.

You can try to set images/phocagallery to 0777 and all subfolders to the same, but this is dangerous as now hackers are writing .htaccess files into folders with 0777 permissions.

If the ftp layer was not enabled while installing components, maybe they have other ownership as if you now enable the ftp (so maybe this needs to be changed)
