Phoca Gallery doesn't display pictures in category

Hi,

I came up with a strange problem and can't find a solution in any of the forums. I created two categories of pictures. For each category one thumbnail is displayed, just the way it is supposed to be. When I click on one of the thumbnails in order to open the gallery view of the choosen category nothing happens. The thumbnails just change and that's it. The category won't open.

I have joomla 1.5.9 and Phoca Gallery 2.1.0 RC installed. So far I didn't have any problems, but now I'm stuck and don't know what to do.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi,

it sounds weird. By the way, we're at Joomla 1.5.10 and Phoca Gallery 2.2.4 now. Maybe updating will solve your problem?

turns out I also stumbled (a little embarrassing) on a wwwrun problem, but it's all worked out now. Nevertheless I upgraded to all the latest versions as well.

Unfortunately for some reason only the Shadowbox is working. When I choose the Standard Popup Window, the Modal Popup Box or Highslide in Detail View Settings, a Box opens (when clicking on a thumbnail in frontend) but instead of the picture the website is displayed inside the box, like a new window is opened. I hope I described it well enough, it's really strange.

The Shadowbox is fine, so for now I can live with that, but some day I probably want to change it and I really want to know what I did wrong. I hope someone can help me out.

If you try to open the parameters in the article manager (in the Joomla backend), does that open in a modal box or in a blank popup window?

Hi Carolien,

I'm not entirely sure what kind of box opens there. The box looks almost the same like the box that opens when I click on one of the thumbnails in phoca gallery in front end. I thought that was a shadowbox since I chose that in the phoca configurations.

It's not a blank popup window. When I open the parameters in the article manager, the page fades a little bit into black and the configuration box appears. To close the box there is an 'x' in a circle in the upper right corner. Is that a modal box? As you can see, I am very new to all this. Thank you very much for your help.

Ok. So now I know that the parameters in the article manager are opened in a modal box. How does that help me to solve my overall problem that I can't use any other way to display my pictures with phoca gallery? So far only the shadowbox works.

When you change the display view, do you do that in the component parameters in your menu item? (so via menus > main menu e.g. > your phoca gallery menu item > component parameters (2nd box on the right)).

Yes, I believe that's what I do. In Joomla Startpage (right after login to backend) I click on components -> phoca gallery which leads me to the Phoca Gallery Control Panel. There I try to change the display view by clicking on component parameters (2nd box on the right) which opens the parameters (also in a modal box by the way).

no, those are the global parameters in Phoca Gallery.

Per menu item you can change the parameters and these override the global parameters.

So if you go to menus > your menu > your phoca gallery menu item, there you see a box 'basic parameters' and the second box 'parameters - component'.
