Comments + Ratings needs Registered Users-can it be changed?

Post by swiftmed »

Hey Guys

Here again for some advice. I have enabled the ratings and comments section of the phoca gallery, but i notice when viewing the pages it says only registerd users can comment and add a rating.

Can this be changed??? Id like to have it so that anybody visiting the site could leave a comment, without the need to sign up anywhere?

If you could give me some advice on this, id appreciate it.

Hopefully Jan could shed some light onto this matter for us...

Hi, commenting and rating of anonymous users is planned. You can enable the login form in the modules....

Just registered here - hello.

Phoca components works perfect to me and i think your work for Joomla community is wonderfull. Thanks. In other way - this option (comments and ratings for unregistered users, especially with security captcha code) can make great Phoca Gallery more great - probably best :) So... waiting for this one.... You promise :)

Any update on this? I am maximizing our website for visitor interaction and return and the ability for anonymous ratings would be excellent.
Results 1 - 10 of about 22,600,000 for stupid people on the Internet.

Hi, no news there as I didn't found any good way how to identificate users better than via registering :-( (regarding to database performance and spam :-( )

just to share some thoughts..
- identification of user: ask for name and e-mail address, in a small form (you can additionally store the ip address..)
- prevent spam: disable posting is user did it, for the same item, less than 5 minutes ago.. (timing)

I started to use PhocaGallery a few weeks ago, and I am really enjoying it!

Hello,

I would like to add that I am also extremely interested in having this feature added.

There could be the registered way of rating pictures and the unregistered, the unregistered option could be just a captcha image beside the voting buttons to prevent spam rating. What do you think?

This would save me, and maybe others, what I am going to do... create a form to rate my pictures because I really need my visitors to vote. Would you please reconsider it? Please

Many thanks in advance, sincerely,
Joanie
