phoca gallery from joomla 2.x to joomla 3.x

phoca gallery from joomla 2.x to joomla 3.x
At present I have installed phoca gallery 3.2.3 on Joomla 2.5.8. I'm going to upgrade joomla to 3.x release and I wonder how can I manage to upgrade the gallery without lose data. Do I have to upgrade the gallery to version 4 and then upgrade joomla ? or Do I have to upgrade joomla to version 3.x and then the gallery to version 4 ? Can anyone help me ? Many thanks!
