mobile view thumbnail size and some more questions

Post by LittleGrizzly »

Hello,
while rebuilding my page with joomla3 I had to Switch back to phoca Gallery. Now I have some Problems:

I use a responsive layout. By now everything seems to do fine, but the thumbnails used in mobile view are very tiny. I don´t know from which Setting they get their sizes, in backend I haven´t set sth small like this
Image
Any idea where to Change the size? And the reading-glass Looks a Little strange, doesn´t resize as it should. Are there Special themes for Joomla3 responsive Support? Or General themes for Joomla3?

I Need to Show my Pictures in full size mode. Am I right when i think, the only way to Show my pics at full size is Highslide JS? It´s the only possibility I see where i can set the full size. Highslide JS seem to work on mobile devices very nice, but is there any possibility to start the slideshow automatically (maybe starting automatically only on small devices?)? On mobiles you can only navigate with left/right arrows, so it´s a Little tricky on smaller devices. Or even better: swipe through the Gallery? That would be great.
Back to my fullsizeimages: I have Images from 640x480px up to 1600x1200px, sometimes 1200x1600px (upright Format). What is the best Setting for thumbnails to have the best results? The biggest used size for width and height of large thumbnails? Why creating big thumbnails when original size Images are set in the HighslideJS Setting? At the end I´ll be at roundabout 15.000 Images, having copied thumbnails in same sizes Needs too much space on my Server. How to avoid this?

That´s all for today. More to come :)
Thanks in advance for any helpful answer,

Steffi

Hi, the conflict can be between the gallery (set size for thumbnails) and the template (set full size for thumbnails - e.g. for mobile preview)

There are possible ways to check:
- check the conflict in template (add some specific class for the images in gallery)
- where there is a problem with detail window, then use some responsive, e.g. magnific

- or you can use responsive output with help of Phoca Photo, see:

Hi, I'm getting the exact same problem with images in category view displaying really tiny on mobile devices (telephones, is okay on tablets).

I'm a bit of a CSS newbie. Any chance you could point me in the right direction where I might check for a conflict in the template and sort it out.

Many thanks,
Simon

Hi, for this you cannot get clue advice as in fact nobody here knows your template, so this needs to be tested on your site step by step (with enabling/dispabling parts of css to know which part can be in conflict)
