Re: Bug in 4.2.1 zip ??
Hi, I have just tried unsuccessfully to install 4.2.1.zip in Joomla 3.4.4 ... then successfully installed the same file on another site still using Joomla 3.4.0
Very sad about this, and hope it can be fixed soon, I was really looking forward to using it. I haven't tried any other new installation since upgrading Joomla so don't know if this is a Joomla bug or if Phoca Gallery needs tweaking.

Re: Bug in 4.2.1 zip ??
Hi, if you get such error when installing the component so this means, this error does not have anything to do with features in Phoca Gallery, this seems like some error in extension manager of Joomla as Extension Manager is the one, which installs the component to the system.
Try to check permissions and ownership of the files and folders on your server
Try to see: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=37860
Anyway did you ask on Joomla!.org forum, as it seems like there is some problem in extension manager?

Hi, hmm, testing now on three different servers (installed newest Joomla!) and get no such problem, everything is working well for me
Can you paste the screenshot of the error?

Hi, use some external service to paste here the screenshot - e.g. imgur.com
Did you also check previous posts about the permissions etc?
Kind regards, Christine

Re: Bug in 4.2.1 zip ??
Hi,
"But why should the permissions all of a sudden change" ... this is the same question like "But why should the phoca gallery all of a sudden change"
In fact the XML file (installation XML) is still the same since beginning Joomla! 3, only date is changing there. It does not change and I have tested it on different servers without getting any problem.
There can be different problems which can cause it. One of them can be a memory problem - e.g. now the server does not install it in some limit e.g. (but in such case you will see error in errorLog)
So, try to see errorLog, try to paste here the screenshot, try to check if you are not using some specific extension which somehow influence installation of extensions in Joomla! Try to check if somehow the extension manager was not changed as extension manager is the one which installs the extensions in Joomla! Components themselves do not install themselves.

No error in tge log file. You can see error message here: http://ableit.dk/screenshot/error_002.png
Akeeba backup which is an even bigger zip, installs just fine - no timeout or memory problem.

Ronny

Re: Bug in 4.2.1 zip ??
I have checked permissions, max upload size, backed up and "upgraded" Joomla again, everything works fine, including upgrading Joomla with a 8 MB file, have successfully installed phocaguestbook, but still cannot install phocagallery either from my computer or from the tmp folder (otherwise empty) on my site.
Errors (sorry, they are in French) in upload-from-my-computer method are said to be these :
Erreur
Une erreur est survenue lors de l'envoi de ce fichier sur le serveur.
Taille maximum PHP d'envoi de fichier trop basse
or from tmp directory are said to be these
Alerte
JInstaller: :Install: impossible de trouver un fichier d'initialisation XML
Erreur
Le chemin ne contient pas de paquet valide
Impossible de trouver un pack d'installation
Impossible de trouver un pack d'installation
. So I am trying to install it by the FTP methode described here https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... em-solving but there is no "front" folder in com_phocagallery_v4.2.1.zip. Would that be called "site" now?
As I said in my previous post, on the same server I successfully installed phocagallery on two Joomla 3.4.3 sites. The Joomla 3.4.4 site is the problem site.
Thanks for your help.
